The Penn State MRSEC partners with Science-U summer camps

The Penn State MRSEC partnered with Science-U summer camps to pilot a half-day STEM program for college-bound high school students who are blind or visually impaired. Students are participants in Summer Academy, a college transition program hosted by Pennsylvania’s Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Bureau of Special Education's Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network. Using a forensic science theme, MRSEC graduate students mentored participants in their efforts to collect evidence, analyze it, compare the data to police records, and solve the crime. Mentors received three hours of training by BBVS staff prior to the event.
